Jacks or better video poker is one of the most popular forms
of poker in internet casinos. In this variation of poker, the player is dealt five (5)
cards. The object is to discard/draw up to 5 new cards to make the best poker hand (see poker hands).
Once the hand is dealt, the player selects the cards he/she
wants to hold (keep) by either double clicking on the card itself or by clicking the
"hold" button directly below the desired card. Once the cards you want to keep
have been selected, the player then clicks the deal/draw button. New cards are then dealt
to replace the discarded cards.
In this game you are the only player. All payouts are based
on a strict schedule usually posted on the playing screen. The minimum winning hand is a
pair of jacks. The most common payout schedule for the majority of internet casinos are
listed below (payouts are listed as a multiple of the your bet. For example, if you bet
one dollar and you wind up with a full house, you'll win $8.00 because a full house pays 8
to 1):
Royal Flush - 250 to 1 Note:
(If you've bet the maximum you'll usually win a jackpot or even a progressive jackpot with
this hand)

Full House: 8 to 1

Straight: 4 to 1
Three of a kind: 3 to 1
